"I am Mom Unplugged, a mother of three children, ages 2, 6, and 8 (and way too many pets). We have no TV, no video games, and no loud toys. Please join me as I attempt to make sense of this crazy life we lead. I promise to dispense plenty of unasked-for advice along the way, as I swim upstream in our increasingly technological world, struggling not to drown!"

Jen Shares a Spider Project

I only just encountered an email that somehow ended up dumped in with my spam, from a reader named Jen who did a cool spider project with her son. She is the first person to take me up on my “email me your Unplugged Project and I’ll post it” offer, and her email got stuck in my spam. So sorry!

Anyhow, Jen and her son had fun making spiders out of black construction paper, pipecleaners, a hole punch, cotton, and white out (for the eyes).

Here is Jen’s description:

“We took the black construction paper and cut 2 circles out. Then puched holes so that we could sew the pipe cleaner through to hold the circles together ( I think yarn would work much better but we were working with what we already in the house). Before closing the 2 circles together we stuffed it with the cotton. And then closed the 2 circles up. Then we weaved the 4 pipe cleaners through the bottom for the legs. Then took the white out to make the eyes. And poof mommy and baby spider. My son had so much fun making these spiders. He wants to make one for everyone in our family. He is 4 and learned from this that spiders have 8 legs.”

Jen sent me a link to her album so that you can see the step by step photos.

She hopes to have her own blog soon. Let us know when you have it up and running Jen, and we’ll stop by and say hello!

UPDATE: Jen’s Blog is now online so stop by and say hello!
