Yes a record player would be wonderful, but I no longer have one. :-( I like the pottery wheel idea, very creative, but I don't have one of those either!

If you try it, let me know how it goes.

I made one on my pottery wheel. I teach art. So now I am looking for other ideas. Maybe a record player.

Oooo, I like your laundry basket idea. That would be fun! I saw some zoetropes out there online that were made with record players but unfortunately I no longer have one. Let me know what you come up with!

Yes, I thought it was interesting too. I am not sure why the debate is so emotional, and it certainly seems to be, especially in film-making circles. I like your redefining idea. It would simplify things considerably most of us, although perhaps it would not satisfy the purists! Thanks so much for the comment!

Thanks, I thought the article on the myth of persistence of vision was pretty interesting. They do seem to be a little over excited about people's tendency to ignore accuracy in favor of flashier terms and easy understand. My husband's comment was 'Why don't they just agree to redefine "persistence of vision" to mean "short term apparent motion"?' I think that really that's all people generally mean by it - that persistence of vision is just what we call our ability to perceive motion from rapid still pictures, whatever the actual proper mechanism and terminology is.
