Well we are now "satellite free" starting this week and we're just using the antenna and downloaded select shows/movies. I am getting used to it but I miss cooking shows! We'll be getting even more picky since any shows we want to watch are pay by the episode, will be MUCH cheaper than the satellite but makes you aware of the $ side of it much more. I'm mixed on Disney.

Just on a personal note, I think turning off the tv will be a great way for me to jump-start my goals! Thanks for the heads up!

Does Disney think we're all a bunch of idiots?

How about "Turn Off The TV and Go For A Walk" Week instead? That would save gas too!

This is pretty disgusting. I read on another website abut how Disney Channel is trying to put more focus on attracting boys, because it's not enough that they already have most tween girls glued to their channel all the time. I realize it's their job to increase their customer base, but there is something very disturbing about the way they are going about it.

Thanks for sharing this information! This just fuels my dislike of Disney (which is a shame because I really did love their movies as a child).

We have been tv free for over a year now, since our infant son began noticing the tv, and it was the best decision we ever made!

It seems that as the economy worsens companies are finding more intrusive ways to expose us to advertising. Targeting our kids under the guise of promoting family time seems a little smarmy to me.

I think the "turnoff" sounds like a great idea. I know if I didn't put tight controls on how much Disney Channel my kids watch they would sit mesmerized in front of the tv all night. It's a little scary sometimes.
